Remember, folks: whenever a woman says "die for me because you are a man," just look her in the eye and say "my body, my choice."

Big Yellow Food Processor

Sadie

Don't let her fool you.  She just ate, and not in the bedroom, but she likes to sneak off with Cal's dish.  Her's is too big to pick up.  She's a big sweetie, but a little clingy.  I'm pretty sure if I closed the bathroom door, she'd break it down to get to me.  What she doesn't know is that away from home, I can use the toilet rather competently with no assistance whatsoever!

Being a lab, she's not only an eating machine, she's a methane factory.  Often a noisy one.  I can't decide if it smells worse coming out the back or the front, but she can fog me right out of a room!  I think the belches are worse, but that may be a matter of volume.  I literally burp her after every meal, because her belly blows up like a beach ball, and sometimes it hurts enough to make her cry.  Then it comes out and makes me cry!

I've tried several different foods, including home-cooked rice and meat, and also supplements, but nothing helps for long.  Fortunately, when she's belching, I know it's not Bloat, and when she's farting, I can find her in the dark!

But she's worth it...

  1. Labs are the best! But check with the vet about the diet. Unfortunately, the food that will help with the gas cost as much as a house. Good luck.

  2. Yeah, we've been over and over it. She's a little better since I put her on Taste of the Wild ($ouch$) and I am considering Hill's Z/D. I don't think it costs much more. There's also something from Australia made with kangaroo meat; supposed to be good for food allergies, and we suspect that's the cause. These days, Sadie doesn't toot around the clock, and that might be as good as it gets. I sure miss my old vet, but he moved to NY to become top dog at the Buffalo Zoo. Hooterville was lucky to have him.

  3. Mmmm. Roo meat - it tastes amazing! (as do the Kanga Banga's ie. sausages).

Sadly my cat will not touch it unless it's actually "people food" so I can't vouch for it as pet food.

  4. Aw, poor baby. Labs are so loyal, though. We had a cat that needed cat food that cost $45/18 lbs bag. Then we would have to take her for an emptying once or twice a year (at $165). She is now with kitty Jesus.

  5. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Love me a good yellow lab, or any dog for that matter, but their farts?! EEK

  6. Son has a black lab. Daughter in law calls him Dumb Dumb. Looks after his five kids; very protective. Otherwise he is a wuss. When he stays with me I take him to a overgrown area near the river and let him run loose. Once he encountered a turkey. Turkey sent him running.
