My house hit the Multiple Listings Service on Thursday, I had five showings yesterday and one today. This afternoon I accepted a very good offer; if all goes well we close before November. Good thing it's clean and nearly empty - it'll be a breeze to pack!
Guess I'm really moving forward now...
Hope it all works out for you.
ReplyDeleteThat is great. My house was on the market for 4 years. Lost my ass, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the reasons we kept the house in Hooterville - we knew it would be slow to sell, even at a loss. I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't found a personal friend to live there and keep it up.
DeleteIn a way I'm fortunate to be in a weird and weak market. My price range is lower middle/upper working class, and most of what's available in this range is either trashed foreclosures that need major repairs, or nicer but tiny houses and condos. I saw the competition and there was very little in this entire area that was clean, freshly painted, and uncluttered. I knew I had an advantage but I didn't know THAT many people were waiting to pounce on a decent house in a modest neighborhood.
Oddly enough, we still don't know the exact purchase price. The buyer basically offered to pay whatever the appraisal will allow, within her pre-approved limit. She knows what she wants and she knows what she can spend; either she's a very smart buyer or she's listening to a very smart realtor. This should be a smooth transaction.
What's next for you? You've been on my mind the past few weeks. I know how weird that sounds, since I'm just a stranger on the internet, but it's true.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the house sold so quickly.
I'm going to spend a couple of days establishing residence back in Indy, then I'll spend a few months in The Frozen North with my parents. Some time next year I'll settle in Indy, get a job, and focus on my activism. Next fall Corporal's enlistment is up and he's decided to attend Purdue or Rose Hulman instead of staying on the west coast, so he'll be close by.
DeleteHow is your damn knee? I've only been skimming the blogs...
Saw the work comp doc today. Just in case (never know who's reading) I won't tell you everything he said. But I liked him a lot. We are waiting a week and then I see him again. My guess? MRI and another tear in the meniscus. But I'm okay. If it has to be done, I will get it done. And then move on.
DeleteIs the frozen North Alaska? Because I'm jealous if it is.
Not that far north! Minnesota. Plenty frozen enough.
DeleteCongratulations. I'm praying for you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Hi, Suz. I'm very sorry I didn't see the news of your husband's death before this - I've been swamped with getting books ready for publication, so my reading of other blogs is down.
ReplyDeleteI'll pray for his soul, and for you as you make the transition to single life again. Please keep us posted on your move to Indy - Miss D. and I visit there fairly regularly, to visit Brigid, Tam and others. Perhaps we can add you to our visiting list. (We bring mead with us! There's a good local meadery up there, if you like the stuff.)
God bless.
Peter
Well done Suz. Best regards and God bless.
