We have visitors on the pond. At first glance I thought they were the hooded mergansers we had a couple of years ago. Maybe? Maybe female common or hooded mergansers? Any idea what these guys are? Crappy pix, I know, even though I crawled through the grass on my belly:
I'm not sure but I think they are ducks. I do know that chickens don't like water, to ducks is my best bet.
ReplyDeleteDo they quack?
ReplyDeleteTry roasting one with a sweet orange glaze. It's the only way to tell for sure...
Mmm. I haven't had duck a l'orange in decades!
DeleteI'm pretty sure they're common mergansers - there were males with them today. WolfAlpha is going to try to get pictures.
ReplyDeleteI hate to disagree with you, but I believe they are uncommon mergatroids. They are on the endangered species list, so please don't cook more than two. Or three, if you send one to me.
ReplyDeleteLove,
