Remember, folks: whenever a woman says "die for me because you are a man," just look her in the eye and say "my body, my choice."

Recovering Catholic part 7
Some denominations call us Eve and some call us Mary, as if we are entirely one or the other. Rather than explore and resolve the conflict by acknowledging we are both at once, Christianity buries it. The overall message seems to be that we should be treated like Mary in the hope that we will try to emulate her, but God will forgive us for being Eve. This is to occur in a moral vacuum, with no male leadership, as Adam and Joseph are gagged and duct taped to a chair in the corner.

Haha, I like it Suz. A good combination of thoughtful, funny, and poignant.
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way out to go see Tartuffe with a friend, but I'll have to bounce around your blog when I get a chance later tonight.
Thanks, I'll take a look at yours as well!
DeleteI don't think we talk about anything like that in my religion, Lutheranism (Catholic lite).
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Lol, love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it does make sense. Because I for one have also experienced the exact opposite of your default western female as well. I've met women I've found to be kindhearted, caring and all out wonderful.
My Lao girlfriend...whom I have been together with for 6 years now...is one of them. Thus I realize both outcomes are possible and neither is preordained.
I'm going to write an article about this some time on my blog, because while understandable there is a tendency in the manosphere to go AWALT in the demonisation of women. And I for one fundamentally believe otherwise...even if the majority of western women presently have developed problematic traits.
This is basically the Madonna-Whore Complex which is just another aspect of the Flesh vs. the Spirit concept. A person consists of both body and soul. The spirit is not all good and the body is not all bad.
